When can we check-in/check-out? Check-out time is 10:30am. Management reserves the right to apply day use charges for late departures. Check-in time is anytime after 2:30pm.
Are the bugs bad? Surprisingly no. You may see the occasional mosquito but black flies have never been an issue.
Can we have campfires? Of course, what’s camping without a campfire? There is a campfire pit at every site & cabin. Wood is available for purchase at the camp store.
How many vehicles can we have per site? One registered vehicles per site. Additional registered vehicles must be parked in the visitor parking lot.
What’s the weather like on PEI? Summer is hot, but rarely humid. We wear short sleeves. Daytime temperatures are usually in the 20s (70s) and can go as high as 32 degrees C (90 degrees F).
Can I smoke in the cabins? No. Smoking is not permitted inside the cabins, the washroom building, the lodge, the pool area or the playground area.
Can we have visitors? Yes. Visitors must check-in at the store, park their car in the visitor parking lot and walk to site. Swimming pool and deck area are off limits to visitors. Visitors must leave campground before 10pm. No visitors allowed during the Cavendish Beach Music Festival.
What’s available at the store? The store stocks all of your basic camping supplies. Campfire wood, ice, ice cream treats, milk and basic groceries are available.
What are the store hours? During summer season store hours are everyday, 8am-10pm. During the off-season firewood and ice are available for purchase at the office.
Laundromat? Yes, we have a great laundry facility on-site.
Is there internet access? Yes. Wireless internet is available throughout the campground and is available from each site. If for some reason you can’t connect from your site, the lodge acts as our “internet hotspot”.
How far is the washroom from the sites? No site or cabin is far from the washroom although if you need to be very close let us know when you register and we will try to accommodate.
Can you rent canoes or kayaks? Yes, we have kayaks and a canoe available for rent.
Firewood Policy
Can we bring our own wood? The Highlands follows the same regulations as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. We promote buying on site and burning on site. For more information about these regulations visit www.inspection.gc.ca
Can we have campfires? Of course, what’s camping without a campfire? There is a campfire pit at every site & cabin. Wood & Kindling is available for purchase at the on-site camp store.
Directions
From Confederation Bridge: Highway #1 East to the community of Crapaud then Highway #13 North to the Village of New Glasgow. Turn right at The Toy Factory, cross bridge, stay right and proceed uphill – Highway #224. We are two kilometers from The Toy Factory on the right.
From Wood Islands Ferry: Highway #1 West, exit right immediately off the Hillsborough Bridge at Charlottetown on the arterial highway, exit right on Route #2 West. Continue on Route #2 West, right to #7 North (4 kms), left on #224 West. Travel for approximately 13 kilometers to campground on left.
From Airport: Sherwood Road to Route #2 West, exit right on #7 North (4 kms), left on #224 West. Travel approximately 13 kilometers to campground on left.
